Dreaming of summer

After the 20 inches of snow we just got, I am dreaming of summer. This is Borestone Mountain. I'm determined that I'm going to climb it this summer.

Winter Scene

Here is a picture of the Dam on Sebec Lake. This was taken in February 2008.

Try, try again.

Okay, here we are at Jan 1, 2010. I'm going to try this picture a day blog again, but so as not to stress my self out, I'm mostly going to be posting from pictures I have taken in the past.

To ring in the new year, here is a picture I took back in August of 2008 at Emily and Shane's wedding.

Reality is setting in. So... I think I'm going to change the rules of this blog. When I go back to work on Monday and back to Grad school in a few weeks, taking a photo every day may not be feasible. So, as long as I've taken the photo within the last week, it's gonna count. Hey, that may not be my original goal, but this is MY blog and I can do what I want, right?

Anyway, here is today's picture. We took the boys sledding and this was my favorite for the day. There was a little park beside the hill that we sledded down and the boys just had to stop and play. Here's Joey and my experiment with capturing a sun flare.

Day Two

It is a cold and beautiful day here today. After dropping the kids off at daycare, I swung by the Thomas Hill Standpipe. I have a kitchen window that frames the standpipe perfectly and I have learned a lot about light by looking at it every day. It sits to the west of our house, so in the morning, the light is on the left side of it and in the afternoon it's lit on the right. This time of year the sun sets directly behind it. After photographing it this morning, I played with the images in photoshop to create some, well... let's say interesting effects. Leave a comment if you'd like on which version you liked better.

Thanks!

Day One

Being New Year's Day, I have made a new resolution. I really want to work on several aspects of my photography: composition, lighting, photoshop skills, etc. Because of this, the best way to improve is lots and lots of practice, so I've resolved to take a picture a day and keep track of it on this blog. I am going to take a picture every day and log them on this blog. Most of these pictures will probably be snappies of my kids (my favorite subject). So I'm sure much of this blog will be personal. Enjoy!

Here is my first photo. My husband and son decided to work on a model car this morning as I was fixing breakfast. Here is one of my snaps.
